What is Brainspotting?

“Where you look affects how you feel.”

Developed by Dr. David Grand, Brainspotting is a psychotherapy approach that makes use of this natural phenomenon. Brainspotting is a relational, brain-body, and mindfulness-based therapy. It is helpful for a wide range of emotional and somatic issues, and life challenges that arise from traumatic events. Anxiety, depression, and other behavioural conditions may often have its roots in trauma, whether they are big T or little T traumas.

Brainspotting offers a gentle process that helps in identifying and healing the underlying trauma that contributes to these challenges, allowing the brain to move to a more adaptive state towards healing and flourishing. During the session, I might use a pointer to help you focus on the ‘brainspot’ as you process the issue in mind. As your therapist, I will be combining Brainspotting with other counselling modalities for an integrative approach that suits you.
