You Deserve a Soft Place to Land

You deserve a soft place to land
This post is a heartfelt message for all, particularly those who have navigated through tough times in their formative years and beyond. I love the phrase “a soft place to land”. I’m not sure where I first heard it, but it brings to mind a pillowy, safe place where we can truly rest.
When life has been hard, knowing that you can receive gentleness, kindness and safety from someone can make a difference. As Brene Brown says, as humans, we are wired for struggle, but we are also wired for connection. We heal in our relationships.
A soft place to land can be a significant other who holds you when you’re feeling vulnerable, a trusted friend who listens without judgment, or a caring family member who offers a shoulder to cry on.
A soft place to land is someone willing to remind you that it’s okay to mess up, be imperfect and learn from our experiences.
A soft place to land is someone who offers emotional safety, a space where you can express your feelings without fear of rejection or criticism, and wants to create a deeper emotional bond.
A soft place to land is someone who is able to be present, listen and get curious about your worries and struggles.
For many of us, that experience is often felt for the first time in therapy. Many of us recognise how it feels to be seen and heard during therapy. If you need support to work through challenges in life, remember that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Support is always available, and it’s up to you to take that first step.
